Dear Students:
I hope that you all enjoyed the long weekend and that your activities went well.
Please remember that we have lecture this morning and again on Thursday.
I have two primary goals for you this week:
First, you will be working with Ellen to complete the theater piece that will use the "poems" on your names and on your home memories. In addition, I have thought of another fun way for you to introduce yourselves to the community on International Day. I will introduce it to you in class today and will post information about it here on the blog.
By Wednesday morning, you will need to have sent me a digital copy of an "I am From Poem" (we will review the assignment together today) and by Thursday morning, a self portrait photograph (we will review that assignment together also.) Both assignments are posted under the "International Day" tab.
My second goal is to finish our reading and discussions of The Giver. We will have our debate about control vs. freedom in the United States, we will discuss reading guides, and we will practice finding evidence together.
By Friday morning, plan to be finished with reading the novel so that we are able to write introductory paragraphs together.
I look forward to class this week. The discussions about The Giver will be interesting, I am sure, and I look forward to our debate!
Heather
