Hello Students:
Congratulations! You have remembered to read the Monday letter. I hope that you are beginning to feel settled in Seattle and The Northwest School. I appreciated reading your comments about the difference between life in your schools in China, Taiwan and Korea, and life here in the Northwest School. I will add a final comment sometime this week to share my response to your thoughts.
Be sure to enjoy the days without rain when they are hear. If you have not been to Volunteer Park, try going there. Or, go to the Sculpture Garden downtown. If any of you are ambitious and want to try to take the bus to West Seattle, you may email me and I will walk to the beach with you in Lincoln Park.
Tonight's focus is vocabulary and The Religious Element. I have posted the assignment under Lectures and Lecture Reviews. Be sure to include everyone in your group in the work.
By now, you should memorize the definition of these three Elements of Society:
The Political Element
The Economic Element
The Religious Element
We will have a test some time next week and you will need to know information about each one. We will review for that on Friday.
This week we will also begin reading The Giver. I am excited for our discussions about that novel! Please bring it to class beginning on Wednesday. You will need to bring it every day after that until we are finished reading it.
Finally, I look forward to speaking with each of you about your writing and to seeing your revised drafts. Remember that you must turn in all earlier drafts with your final drafts in order for me to see how much you have changed and improved the writing. We will take time to share each other's writing this week.
Get sleep and eat well, as always.
Heather
