This is our first full week of class together, and I am excited to read your first formal writing assignment!
Most of you seem to be understanding what we are talking about in class very well. If you are having difficulty, please let me know. You may email me or talk to me during study hall on Tuesday evening.
When you finish your writing tonight, be sure to re-read your work and make any changes to add detail, correct punctuation and correct verb tenses.
Please also make sure your vocabulary notebooks are up to date. Review the words each night before sleep. We will have our first vocabulary quiz on Friday, so ask me about the list of words in class tomorrow.
I will be coming to the dorm for study hall most Tuesday evenings. I look forward to having that time to review writing one on one and to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
If you are not in the dorm, we need to make another arrangement this week for a time that we can meet.
Tomorrow in class we will discuss another poem, then, Wednesday we will learn about the Economic Element of Society.
By the end of the week you should understand the following:
- What is annotation and how do I use annotation as evidence for claims I make in writing or discussion?
- What is concrete language and detail, and how can I use concrete language to show what I mean or to understand what I am reading?
- What is The Economic Element of Society?
See you tomorrow.
Heather
