Hello Students,

Thank you for listening so intently to the information about MLK yesterday. I hope that you will have some background that will help you to understand the experience today.

Thank you also for bringing your background and perspectives to this country. The United States is an amazing experiment in human history. How do we open our doors to people from all nations and backgrounds, then create a just system of government?  You are now part of that experiment!

To honor the legacy of dedication of MLK, the holiday is traditionally a day of service in this country.  I know that many of you will have an opportunity to serve in some way with the dorm. I'd love to hear about it.
My family and I will be volunteering for an organization that takes children with disabilities into the outdoors. We will be going to the Skagit River where hundreds of  eagles overwinter to take children down the river in rafts. We even take some children who are in wheelchairs down the river!

I have posted a reading assignment for Oedipus The King in the assignments section. I will come to study hall on Monday or Tuesday evening to meet with each of you and review your annotation.

See you on Monday evening or Tuesday!

-Heather
