ReplyDeleteThe thing that I think which is the biggest difference between the schools in China and in the USA is the relations between the teachers and the students. In China the teachers pay a lot attentions to the students' grade. They encourage the competitions between the students. They believe the competitions can help us make progress. The students are having competitions and they only help each other for learning more and beating them. The teachers think that if a student has a good score, he or she must be a student that following the rules, being helpful, and being a model. I used to be the top 5 in my class and the monitor. I know the disappointment when your teacher ask you to become better and better, until one day she asks you to become perfect. I'm tired about that. Teachers here don't have clear levels between them and the students.

ReplyDeleteThe differences between the two big countries are the culture and habit. Students in China usually have many homework and they will finish the homework till 11 o'clock or even later.
I think the biggest difference is the habit. We have to control ourselves instead of being controlled. When we write our homework till 11 , so that we don't have any spare time. However, if we have more free time, we should know when you should play and when to study. It a very different way to teach between these two countries. You have to learn not to delay. You should have a plan so that you won't be passives.
Education is very important for everyone. In my school in China, teachers teach students a lot of things in a day. Sometimes there are too much for students to remember them all. In this situation, teachers will give students a lot of homework like copying, reciting in order to make sure that students know them all. When final exam comes, students will keep reviewing the old knowledge they learned the whole quint in one week. It is a very hard job for some students, that's why many students get bad grades in China. Because of the ways of educating students, students are dull and can't think out of the box. We need some new ideas! The biggest difference between my school in China and The Northwest School is the school schedule. We usually go to school at 6:30 in the morning and come back at 5:45 in the afternoon. We have 9 academic classes every day. We seldom have time to play except for summer vocation. In the Northwest School, teachers give us more spare time for us to play sports, hang out with each other after school. During classes, teacher will ask student questions to help students learn new things. Teachers give more time for everybody to present and share their own opinions with others. There are a lot of differences between the education in China and America, but that's the one I want to say.

The biggest difference between Chinese school and American school is the activity after school. In China, students usually play computer games before doing their homework. They know they have many works to do, but they don't care about it. In the U.S, students usually do sports instead of games. That's the only thing I want to talk about.

In my opinion, I think the biggest different between the school in China and The Northwest School is that in China we only have one classroom for us, and the classmate is always the same so we don’t have to find classroom for next class. We just all set in the same classroom and talk to the same classmate so that we hardly have time to make friends with people in other class. However in the USA, we have to go to different classroom for different class, and we can meet all students in the 9th grade, have class with them, make friends with them, or even have lunch with them. That give us more opportunities to content with other people but not only a few students in one class. I think both have their benefit. First in China, I think I can enjoy more comfortable rest between two classes, because we haven’t to find which classroom I should be, and always stay with the same classmate that can make hold all the classmate together so that when there have some activities the hole class can work together without complain. For America I think is good to know almost everyone in the same grade and make friend with them. That can help us get in the school easier and faster. We can meet many different people, it can broaden our horizons, expand our outlook and it can hold all students from the same grade together. Also if we change classroom for each class it can weak our up, because we get into a new environment.

Schools in America are quite different from that in China. First of all in china, some schools only pay much attention on students' grades. Teachers think their job is teaching, they do not have the duty to have humor in classes. If you have good grade in tests, even though you do not have a good personality or quality, teachers will all like you very much. Of course this situation is not that often but it is still not fair for some students. Second problem is that I do not have much free time in my school in china. My teachers want me to study. They think it is a waste of time if you do some sports or extra activities. It’s really bad I think. The third problem is that I always have too much homework in my school in china. Sometimes I even need to stay up late to finish my homework. If I do not finish my homework on time, my teacher will call my parents and let them come to school. I still need to have punishment in school.
ReplyDeleteAnother way, my school in the US in really different from that in china. It’s much more open. Teachers give me freedom passion and humor. They encourage me to participate in any sports. They think it is a good way to meet new people and have a good body. They do not just care about our grades, the most important thing is that we need to have good behaviors in our daily lives. In America, I also do not have so much homework that I need to finish them to stay up late. My school has a lots outdoor activities for us. They give us a lots opportunities to make friends with domestic students, it’s a good way for international students to study English. Finally, I really love my school in the US.

Different countries have different education ways. Take my school in China as an example, even though our education way is kind of like U.S, we learned different things. I think the biggest difference is the level of the math. My formal school sees the math as a very important subject, so students should concentrate more on math. Usually, we spend more than an hour in solving math problems. That is really hard. They also rank the students into different classes. Math 1 learns the knowledge a little bit slow, but the knowledge points are same. Math 2 is the common level. Most of the students are in this level, but we still learn many things per day. It is really hard to review, as the knowledge points are so many! The highest level is Math 3. Teachers in this class usually let students do self-learning, but it goes really fast. Now they have already learned high school knowledge. But in NWS, our math teacher told us that we should not spend more than7 minutes per question. That gave me more time to do other things. In the class, we talked about what we did last night, and brought up more questions, then discussed. Students here do not need to accept a lot of things, so that we can have more time solving and thinking a problem. That really does not give me as much pressure as my formal school does.

My school in china is an international school. But it is not a completely like foreign school. There are just some foreigners in our school to teach us. When we have class, the teacher often do not let us to answer the question. So, our efficiency is not high. And there are about 30 students in a class. In the Northwest School, our general high efficiency. When we do not pay attention to listening, the teacher will let us to answer the question. School in China, the classroom is very serious, even inanition. But in here, the class is very active. We can say that all we think. Teachers will respect all our idea. And the interaction of teachers and students a lot. Not like in China class, we can not have any interaction.
ReplyDeleteSchool in China, we have a lot of homework. We always do our homework until 11p.m. The second day, we must get up at 6 o’clock. We always really very tire. In here, we have enough time to finish our homework. The teacher in China are not patient. They always very serious. But in here, if we have question, teachers will explain to us patiently. We have a lot of pressure in China. We came to here, should study hard.

Two schools both attach great importance to the academic, but their focuses are quite different. School in China pays more attention to the students' score especially the midterm and final exam' score. They use these two scores to evaluate the conditions of the students. The Northwest School uses every score to be a part of your condition. I think that is fair for everyone, each person has bad days. The school should not use the special value to be a part of the condition.
ReplyDeleteI think the biggest different between Chinese school and American school is the number of activities. In China, we nearly don’t have outdoor activities and only have a few experiments. We usually have classes in one classroom. I nearly can’t believe we can go out and have ice cream during school time or do observation every science class. It’s fun and real. We can use flashlight to shine real hot coffee but not picture it in our brain and write it on the paper. We can do an observation spot but not just sitting in the class room and listening to the teacher. It’s different, but good.

I don't really know about the Korean schools because my school was French International school. I think the biggest diffrent thing between The Northwest School and Korean school is that respect the students' dream or thoughts. The parents in Korea want to their kids become a do tor or a lawyer because they think that is the better way for them. The thing is they don't even know what their kids want to do. For example, my mom did violin because her mom foreced to do it. So my mom did what ever her mom said but at the end of the university, she just stoped. She realized that is not what we want but that was too late. Now, my mom never touch her violin and she regretted and my grandma regretted too. My dad had the same problem.
ReplyDeleteMy parents always respect my thoughts and try to give many experiences as much they can. I did many thing that normal Korean students can't do. Like scuba diving , fencing, different kinds of arts..ect
Here, The Northwest School, we have lot of thing that we can do, they respect our dreams.
In korea, they don't really care about the dreams, the only issues is the university. If we can't go to a university in capital, we can even work for a company. That s the facts of most Koreans. I think it is similar with China
